Congress rejects BJP-DMK alliance buzz as Stalin weighs stand on delimitation bill

Speculation regarding a potential political realignment between the BJP and the DMK has been firmly dismissed by the Congress. Addressing the rumors, senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh emphasized that any suggestion of an alliance between the two parties is unfounded, primarily due to their fundamentally conflicting ideologies.

Congress Reaffirms Opposition Unity

According to a report by the Times of India, Jairam Ramesh clarified that the DMK remains a steadfast member of the opposition bloc. He further noted that the party maintains regular communication with Congress MPs, reinforcing the existing political coordination within the opposition ranks.

The Congress leadership appears confident in the current coalition dynamics, dismissing the buzz as mere conjecture. By highlighting the ideological divide, the party aims to put an end to theories suggesting that the DMK might pivot toward the BJP.

DMK’s Stance on the Delimitation Bill

While political alliances remain a topic of discussion, the DMK is currently focused on the impending Delimitation Bill. The party has explicitly stated that it is carefully studying the proposed legislation to determine its potential impact on Tamil Nadu.

Internal deliberations within the DMK have centered on the implications of increasing parliamentary seats and the critical necessity of retaining the current representative proportions among different states. The party has made it clear that its final position on the bill will be dictated strictly by the interests of the state.

Crucially, the DMK intends to formulate its strategy regarding the Delimitation Bill independently. The leadership has indicated that it will not be consulting the Congress before reaching a decision, choosing instead to prioritize its own regional mandate and legislative analysis.
